The 1970s saw one of the biggest scandals in British political history when the former leader of the Liberal Party, Jeremy Thorpe, was accused of trying to have his former gay lover, Norman Scott, killed, which led to him being tried at the Old Bailey in 1979. With Hugh Grant playing the dashing and witty Thorpe and Ben Whishaw as troubled Norman – nicknamed ‘Bunny’ by the politician – there’s sizzle and passion in the first of this three-part drama about their story. The pair meet at the horse stables where Norman works, and they embark on an affair that will ultimately bring about Thorpe’s downfall…
